SDA New Zealand, Australia and Africa Members Exhibition
November 21st to December 20th 2024
This is an open invitation for members of The Surface Design Association in New Zealand, Australia and those in African countries to participate in an SDA exhibition in 2024. The theme of the exhibition is TIME.
While many any of us connect time with the passage of the tides or seasons and this has long established cultural roots across the world, this is not a universal viewpoint.
Notions around Time “belong to a culture’s ‘silent language’ – its invisible influence has far-reaching implications on how a culture perceives itself and the world around it.”(1)
This exhibition call invites artists to consider Time from their own personal cultural constructs and to use the ‘language’ of their practice to make this ‘visible’ to their audience.
New Zealand and Guest Australian and African Regional Surface Design Association Exhibition Opportunity.
DATES: November 21st to December 20th 2024
Exhibition Name: ‘Time’
Location: from out of the blue studio gallery,
18 Halse Place, Ōpunakē.
Guest Juror to be Carole Shepheard ONZM
The criteria for entry to this exhibition is a current membership with SDA.
The submissions will be digitally judged by the juror who will also support in curating the exhibition and selecting the prize winners.
We have been honoured to have Carole Shepheard ONZM agree to be our juror. Carole is a NZ Printmaker and educator with a long practice in the arts and experienced with many jurying jobs. Here is a bit of an insight into Carole.
The gallery will be made available free of charge except for 25% sales commission for this exhibition in order to support the growth and outreach of SDA in New Zealand.
More information will be added to this webpage closer to the time for submissions so please stay tuned and check back. This will also be the place to find the registration form. I will support this page with email updates to people on the membership list for SDA.
This will be a very exciting opportunity to expand our contacts with each other within the SDA network. Hopefully it will lead to new friendships and exhibiting opportunities for those involved.
Please email me directly if you have any questions at all firstname.lastname@example.org
I am looking forward to getting to know you all and working with you.
Please mark it in your calendar and spread the word about this as a wonderful opportunity to really showcase your practice through the SDA network.
