Sashiko – The Art Of Japanese Decorative Stitching.

TIME: 9.00am – 3.00pm Tea and Coffee supplied. Shared lunch

Sashiko is the art of decorative running stitches put into patterns and designs that are distinctively Japanese in aesthetic. Simple stitches produce the pattern in what is considered a meditative , relaxing practice.

This workshop will be focused on how to lay out and secure pieces of differing fabrics from a premade kit to create interesting compositions. You will start the stitching and then complete it at home.

You will leave the workshop with your own art Sashiko sample that can be finished and used as a small framed work, a feature to attach to an existing garment or as a mending patch on a well loved treasure.


Supplies

All the materials you will be working with are in the kits that are included in the price of the workshop. Please bring your favourite pair of sharp scissors.

Also please bring a shared lunch
