Class Restricted to 6 people

Using a curated collection of Viv Davy’s hand dyed eco-fabrics and threads, you will learn how to stitch ‘boro’ style. This is a traditional Japanese mending technique that uses the layering of fabrics to restore garments or household textiles. Parallel lines of running stitch become part of the design and link the fabric piecs together. These can then be further stitched with esimple embellishment stitching.

This workshop will be focused on how to lay out and secure pieces of differing fabrics from a pre-made kit to create interesting compositions. You will start the stitching and then complete it at home.

You will leave the workshop with your own artistic Boro sample that can be finished and used as a small framed work, a feature to attach to an existing garment or as a mending patch on a well loved treasure.
