Gallery Gathering – ‘This Is My Medicine’ – Heidi Monks. Sunday 16th August 2026 from 2pm.

A colorful quilt featuring a patchwork design with various octopus and sea creature motifs embroidered in multiple colors on contrasting fabric squares.

Heidi will be our Exhibiting Artist and Artist in Residence from 13th August to 21st September. Heidi has a long term art practice combining spiritual awareness with her natural dyeing and stitching practice. Her works convey a sensitive approach to her passage through life. Here are some of Heidi’s own words:

Work for this exhibition began with a resist paste drawing on an iron dyed linen cloth. I was feeling a little adrift and as I drew, I saw myself navigating the outer reaches of the cosmos, my antennae on high alert… feeling into what I was sensing. My drawing emerged to its own rules, gifting me places to rest and dream. Adrift in a sea of energy, antennae vibrating.

The cloth became my marker for this exhibition, and shows me how to proceed.

My intention is to honour my antennae and their ability to guide me. I dive into the unknown and celebrate what I bring back from this place of mystery. I am interested in what will be revealed, as I work with textile and natural dye, discovering new relationships forming between the processes, revealing and shielding in a dance that upholds my authentic voice. My work parallels my life.

Heidi will be our Artist in Residence for the time of her Solo Exhibition ‘This Is My Medicine ‘. While in Residence Heidi will be exploring more aspects of her natural dyeing practice using the dye kitchen.

Please do join us for this chance to get to know another artist in our gallery community. As always the talk will be followed by lively conversations and a cuppa with nibbles.

A free community event. All are welcome.
