Wabisabi Inspired- Liz Sinclair

An intricate vintage crochet work that had been damaged has been reconstructed in the tradition of Japanese Wabisabi. This ‘repair’ adorns and highlights the beauty of the textile and elevates its continued use  in its on-going life.

The Japanese practice of honouring the act of repair is the inspiration for this piece. Careful gold stitching highlights the respect for the original act of making. The life journey of the original crochet piece is not hidden but rather traced by the obvious act of skilled repair.

This work is part of the Silent Auction being held to raise funds for The Women’s Refuge.
