Fabric Collage Day 2022

TUTOR:    Anne Garvey

LOCATION:     from out of the blue studio galley, 18 Halse Place, Ōpūnake.

TIME: 10am -4pm Shared Lunch. Tea and Coffee supplied.

PRICE:  $50 Maximum of 6 people.

DESCRIPTION:

Do you remember doing paper collage at school? Well this is the same, but with lush fabrics, trims, lace, stamps, tape, photos and paper. You will learn about composition and how to layer and compliment your favourite pieces. After pinning, you will learn a few (or a lot) of stitches that will add another dimension to your work, while securing your pieces to the backing.

This is “mindful/slow stitching” at its best, a relaxed and fun way to spend a day, using scraps and offcuts, reinforcing how to minimise textile ‘waste’ in an artful way. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY FABRIC FOR THIS WORKSHOP!

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Scissors/sewing Pins/Needles/Your favourite coloured thread
  • Any fabric or garment scraps, old linen you love
  • Embroider threads/cottons, trims, lace etc. (OPTIONAL: bring things from your stash, but if this is new to you, I have plenty!)
  • Pen and paper to write and make notes
  • Your phone or camera for recording your progress is useful for later.

Spaces are limited to 6 people.
